An Associate Fellow at the Middle East and North Africa Programme at UK think tank Chatham House, Peter has worked as a journalist and analyst for the past eight years.

He writes on politics, the economy and development issues in the Middle East and North Africa with a focus on Yemen. The former energy editor of MEED, the Middle East Economic Digest, he writes regularly for Al Jazeera, The Economist, The Financial Times, Foreign Policy, Vice News and a number of other publications. His photography has appeared in  Al Jazeera, the Economist, the New Internationalist and Vice News. He regularly appears as a commentator on Yemen on Al Jazeera, the BBC, CNN, and Sky News. 

Peter also has wide-ranging experience  as a political economy researcher and consultant for clients including Chatham House, the UK government's Department for International Development, the UN and the World Bank. Peter has an Msc in international politics from SOAS, the School of Oriental and African Studies at London University, and an MA in English and Scottish literature from the University of Edinburgh.
